The town Eidsvold took its name from Eidsvold Station, which was the name given to the property by the Archer Brothers when they selected it in 1848. Eidsvold Station was named after a small town, Eidsvoll in Norway where the country’s constitution was first signed.

Eidsvold township began its days as a gold mining town in 1887. All that remains of those hectic days when thousands of miners fought to win gold, are the gold rich tailings. Since the mining finished around 1948, there has been little mining activity.

Eidsvold is a shire, which speaks of diversity. Its claim to fame as ‘Beef Capital of the Burnett’ is supported by a world record yarding of 7,482 head of cattle, which were sold in one day. There are vast areas of crops and small crops – Lucerne, Potatoes and Paulownia trees just to name a few. Beef cattle, citrus orchards, grapes, hardwood forests and logging operations provide plenty of employment throughout the year. There is a strong community of Aboriginal people who contribute fully to the cultural and social diversity of Eidsvold.

Eidsvold is certainly a peaceful paradise for visitors to come and take in the scenery and explore all there is to offer. Located on the Burnett Highway (A3), the main street of Eidsvold is hard to resist with beautiful parks, friendly people and fresh country air.

Why don't you stop for a while and visit our attractions......
